About Our Book

Research in the field of preconception shows that you can optimize prenatal conditions to promote lifelong health.  The new science of epigenetics proves that environmental changes profoundly affect our genes, revealing that preconception may have much greater and farther-reaching power than previously thought.  This combination sparks a revolution in how we foster better health and intelligence in our children during pregnancy and even before conception.

Scientists have long believed that DNA from parents will fully predetermine a child’s physical characteristics and behavior.  New research proves that this simply isn’t true.  What you eat, what you touch and breathe, and how you think and feel control which genes are turned on or off in you and your children.  These genes matter—they shape immune function, hormone levels, and even brainpower.

Packed with over 750 scientific studies, The Better Baby Book empowers you to combine preconception nutrition, a toxin-free home, and a nurturing womb to make a healthier, smarter baby with a lower risk of autism.  The authors—a physician and a nutrition expert—used these groundbreaking techniques to have two exceptionally healthy babies after age 40.

First and foremost, Lana and Dave are the dedicated parents of two young children. Between 2006 to 2010, they teamed up to have two of the healthiest, smartest babies they could while minimizing the risk of autism.
